About Us Your hosts, Greg and Karen Ye, have been involved with competitive retrievers for nearly 20 years. Starting out with a Chesapeake Bay Retriever named Jezzy and armed with Richard Wolter's books on retriever training, we made Jezzy into an AKC Senior Hunter with no force-fetch nor collar conditioning. She was an awesome first attempt for us which set the hook for a life time of retriever involvement. Since those early years, we sought the skills of Rick Stawski of Fine Line Retrievers to build our first field trial dog. Rick developed our understanding of modern retriever training and handling skills. Rick's patience never wore thin with us or our knuckle head "JJ", another peake, who became our first Master Hunter and very close to Qualified All Age. Phil Berger and Steve Yozamp of Del-Tone Kennels contributed another huge segment of retriever information. Steve helped sort out a problem dog for us who continued to achieve under Steve's direction. Steve also started another peake for us who went on to achieve Master Hunter legs. Another significant source of information came from Rick Bauer of Wood Duck Kennels and in fact, continues to this day. Rick worked for Wayne Curtis ( a National Winner ) and mentored with Bruce Curtis. Rick built the foundation on our first labrador, Babe, who achieved  Derby placements and wound up Qualified All Age and a Master Hunter. Greg spent a winter in Texas working and learning with Rick. We continue to winter in close proximity and train together frequently. About The Trainer: Greg and Karen Ye have over 20 years of Retriever Training Experience. Since “Going Pro” in 1997, they have developed over 16 dogs that have achieved placements in Licensed Field Trials and over 40 dogs that have earned Hunt Test Recognition, mostly at the Master Level. During this same period, we have built well over 250 Reliable Hunting Partners out of most retriever breeds and temperaments. Any Poodle owners looking for training? Retriever training requires constant information gathering through seminars, tapes, books, etc. simply to keep the experience fresh and updated. Greg earned a B.S. degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin and Karen has a Masters in Education and is a 6th Grade Teacher. We know how to acquire and implement information.
