What Sets Ten Mile Kennels Apart:
Unlike some gun dog training facilities that create birdy little monsters that puke birds at their owners at the conclusion of 6- 8 weeks of training at great expense, Ten Mile Kennels begins formal basic retriever training the day your retriever checks in. We try to determine your dog's ability to succeed from the first moment we meet. Our goal is to give our customers a basic retrieving dog in a reasonable amount of time at a reasonable cost. With this objective in mind, our policy is this: If within the first two weeks of training we feel your retriever is not going to be a good investment, we send the dog home no charge. If your retriever is a viable candidate, Ten Mile Kennels has the ability to exceed your expectations!

| Puppy Program |

Duration: 3 - 4 month program
Cost: $600.00 per month plus birds

| Program Inludes: The optimum candidate for the Puppy Program is at least 6 months of age and has demonstrated a desire to retrieve on land and water. The program is also suitable for older retrievers who lack a trained response while retrieving. Your retriever will learn Formal Obedience, the Trained Retrieve or Force- Fetch, Simple Casting and E-Collar Conditioning and your retriever will be confident retrieving on land and water. The end result should be a dog that delivers shot birds to hand in a business like manner under common hunting scenarios. Commands learned will include Sit, Heel, Here, Hold, Fetch and Drop. Owner involvement is encouraged and appreciated in the final month of training. |
Intermediate Program |

| Program Includes: This program is where young retrievers really begin to develop into fine shooting dogs and gives us the basis to predict whether your retriever will be competitive in Field Trials or Hunt Tests. Our goal in this seqeunce is to continue yard work to include Pile Work, T Patterns, Swim-By, Pattern Blinds and culminate with simple cold blinds on land and water. Field work will include advanced steadiness, multiple marks on land and multiple marks on water. Your dog will also be taught to not "cheat" water marks. At the conclusion of this program, you will be well under way to obtaining the retriever of your dreams. Owner involvement is highly encouraged at this level since handling your dog at this level requires more skill and timing. |

Cost: $600.00 per month plus birds (entry and handling fees are additional) |
| Program Includes: This program is not for every dog nor every owner. Your retriever must be of the highest intelligence and attitude to qualify for our advanced program. The program is designed for the Field Trial / Hunt Test dog to succeed at AKC Performance Events. If your retriever is at this level, we certainly do not need to explain the huge commitment this program entails. |
